The True Inspiration for This Blog

I just want to give a shout out to my Jeffy Poo.

It is our snarky conversations that inspired the title for this blog.

If you are a true bootch, Jeff will usually be the one to anoint you.

He has no idea how much inspiration he gives me both artistically and spiritually.

I never take for granted the journey we've endured *high five*

And yes. That is a snuggie -_-

Stronghold (Palm Springs)

I felt like a nomad this weekend, but the transient lifestyle that I'm living right now is very fitting and healing. I'm always ready to move. The next stop was Palm Springs.

My two former roommates Jonas and Jona moved from the bay area to Palm Springs about five years ago. Jona and I have been to countless parties where Jonas and my ex would be spinning, and we called ourselves the DJ girlfriends.

We helped load in, set up, and would be the last ones to leave. In those years we were rotating between drum and bass, reggae, and random top forty parties. Those were great years.

Jonas has now cultivated a reggae scene in Palm Springs. StrongHold started in San Francisco, and has now become the party to be at in Palm Springs. For me it was interesting to see a San Francisco party transcend into a completely different scene and watching good folks have a great time.

This picture cracks me up because I have no idea why I'm making this face. I guess I was shocked at Ed's enthusiasm and intensity. Good guy, but very wacky!

I met a good group of folks this weekend, who were all very genuine and kind. Jonas has a good team of people who make this party happen every month, and have managed to get a consistent following.

Palm Springs is a nice getaway from LA. The parties in LA are a little intimidating to me. They seem so fab industry, I'm sure if folks are there to dance to just "look good." It's been interesting for me to experience subculture outside of San Francisco. For a long time I don't I could even fathom subculture outside of San Francisco, because I was just a Bay Area snob.

I can't even believe that I thought nothing "real" or "cool" could happen in SF. *eye roll* that's me in my early 20's for you.

Great times Palm Springs. I'm sad I won't be able to go next month. Your desert drive is beautiful. You people are nice and chill. I'll see you again. Next Stop back to LA for the Do Over party.

Why I love being a Hag

Fag Hag that is, but I hate the word that comes before hag in this title. So we'll just say Hag.

At 16 in the passenger side of my best friend's car. I asked a couple of questions that opened the flood gates. Why don't you have any guy friends? You're best friend is a girl, but you never had the hots for her?

"Christina I have to tell you something."

OMG here it comes. He's going to tell me he likes me. Damn it Christina you just went through this last week with your other dude friend, and you can't afford to lose another one. Say something before he does..... like right.......

"I'm gay."

oh.

A hag was born. Who she was from then on completely changed. Her crew would would be compiled of pretty men instead of bitchy backstabbing girls. She found a dope species of people that she would grow old with, and have been down for her since she was sixteen. Yes she is always the only girl in a group of guys, but damn it she would always be the prettiest girl in the crew! She was born in a world of uncertainty, but led into a life that she loves. She would never turn back. Let me tell you why.

  1. You always have a date. Always.
  2. Candid and Non judgemental conversations. No sex question is off limits.
  3. You eat at the best restaurants ever. No joke.
  4. Even on my fattest day I can go to the Castro and someone will tell me I'm pretty.
  5. If you've been good to your gays your drinks will always be free.
  6. Someone will always dance with you and will even catch you when you drunk fall...... five times.
  7. You get the best hugs on earth. Big and sincere.
  8. If I met a gay ten years ago he remembers me because of the way I danced.
  9. They remember that you made out with someone in a gay bar -_- and never fail to mention it when they see you. Even 8 years after it happened. awesome!
  10. It is the best friendship ever. The most unguarded and honest thing I've ever had.
There you go. A hag is born at 16 and at almost 28 she is still the biggest fucking hag :D

Geminis Rule the School!

The Blues have been ever present, but on the flipside my birthday month is around the corner.

Buwahahahahah. "Who is the fairest of them all!!!"

My girl Aivy is the first Bootch to set the madness in motion. We ate at the Wood Tavern in North Oakland.

I love it when I can eat like a Boigie Bootch and nom nom on things like pork belly, Pate, Cheese, Cured meets, and Rigatoni Bolagnese.

Aivy has a great set of friends who tell dirty jokes and laugh hysterically at everything. It was good to see people have fun. It was great to feel myself have fun and not be a moper with my cat. Socializing with humans is fun!

And these folks are great humans. Definitely.

Our boy Christian who is one of Aivy's best friends had an uncle that works as a chef and he hooked us up with some cheese and meats!

Free gourmet is A-Okay!

I got to hit up Sklark in the Mission for the Bakla launch party. Of course there were many baklas and familiar faces. It was great to end the night with folks that I love. I have to keep myself positive. I have to Love my time. I cannot battle with present. I have to let go.

And...... don't you love my pictures? It's part of the snazzy apps on my new Iphone that I LOOOOOOVE! I've waited all year for this upgrade to happen and I want to marry my iphone and make smart babies with it.

Transitions

I got to take a great mini trip to Monterey this weekend. I am fortunate to still have friends that I've known since I was five. That is right not five years ago, but five years old.

My sistergirl Katrina graduated from college, and allowed yours truly to sleep on their comfy couch facing a gorgeous ocean view.

Me, Katrina, Amy, and Missy; we definitely fit that term sisters from another mister. There was a ten year gap where we didn't speak, but in essence I'm not sure if that was necessarily a bad thing.

Are long catch up talks always provide a lot of perspective. The four of us had our own individual journey. They do not see me enough to take my reaction for granted. There are people you see everyday and their individual struggles seem like a collective effort.

Folks who don't see you for years at a time will not call you out on your bullshit. Words are chosen wisely when we don't know when we will see each other again.

I shared some of the most pivotal moments of my childhood with these women. I am forever grateful for the lessons that they have given me about life.

With plenty of wine and cheese to go around I was a drinky fat fat. Life is good. Youth is good.
