Student Fashion #2 Taleria
This is Taleria. At work we call her the "Black Widow." Face of an angel and a temper of a volcano. All jokes aside she's fun to be around. Great smile. Beautiful girl.
She just went to prom recently and kept her hair like this all week. It's a weave glued on and shaved into a Mohawk. She had the tips dyed purple to match her purple dress. I thought that this was a bold hair choice for prom, but I love it. I wish I could do over my hairsprayed mess of broke pageant updo that I had for my prom. She showed me her dress from that night. It was beautiful. She looked great.
Most of the students at my work listen to hip hop. It surprises me from time to time to see them experiment with rock and punk rock style. I kinda miss being young and making bold choices. However, I seem to live vicariously through these girls. Thanks Taleria!

The Queen of Bootches
Just wanna give a shout out to the biggest bootch of them all.
My brother took this picture of our cat Cocoa. She's an old lady now, but is still a big ass bootch.

Student Fashion #1 Unique
I work at a continuation highschool here at Treasure Island. I've been working for this program for almost two years, and some of my greatest fashion and artistic inspiration has come from this place. The girls here are bold and experimental with their fashion and I enjoy complimenting their crazy steez, so I dedicate a lot of this blog to them. Crazy Bootches.
Unique is one of my favorite students, and yes the style fits the name. We used to call her the "One who gets dressed in the dark." She would come to school with about 30 neon shoelaces tied to one leg and 50 mardi gras beads on her neck. My favorite moment is when one of the case managers told her she looked like a Christmas tree.
She created this moniker called "Waffles and Jelly" to describe her style. Unfortunately she retired Waffles and Jelly when she turned 18 so she could dress "normal" and become and aspiring model. I enjoy seeing her everyday with a voice that is cross between a person who inhaled too much helium and a squeaky old southern lady. Unique definitely deserves to be the first student style post.

Clothing Swap Party at Rach's
Photos by: Jaylyn Silvestre-Torres
LMAO. So last weekend we had a clothing swap party at Rach's house. Ann the dork Borja found a kids Dora the Explorer costume in her pile and decided to try it on creating the grosses camel toe.
So the ladies all brought clothes, accessories, and handbags. We all picked a number got a chance to choose one top, bottom, dress, or accessory. Rach cook some yummy food and I brought my specialty of "Make your ASS grow" mac and cheese.
Jaylyn who took all the pictures has a great camera where you can manipulate the color. Here is some of her artistry from that day.
Here are the clothes and shoes:
Accessories:
Moded Tango Dresses.
LOL we weren't trying to hurt anyone's feelings, but for some reason three different girls brought these black spandex dresses with hella fringe. So Rach, me, and Ann decided to take a picture. It was a great day spent with the girls. Below is some of the food we ate. I can't wait to do it again.
Deep Thoughts with Joi #1
My facebook status today was "Dear American Apparel. Why are you bringing ugly the 8o's back? Leggings I can forgive. Legging with holes? Not so much."
Now I love and hate this store. It's a lot of money for basics, but they last till the day you die. Also I hate the Psuedo porn/pedophile like images in their advertisements. ACK! I've been walking around their store lately and see images of the Grossest 80's trends, and the hipsters are eating the shit up.
So my fellow bootch friend Joi posted this to torture me. Because my friend Joi wants to torture my freaking hatred for this horrible atrocity. I call these the velacorapter leggings. Below is our commentary about these stupid ass leggings with holes.

First art project of the year. My Bedroom
This year I took a huge risk in painting my room orange. I was inspired by this image that I found online of "Urban bedrooms" I really liked the use of bright color to create a calm and peaceful setting. I'm not a girl that likes pastels so I thought this would be a great blue print for my new room.
Below is phase two and my best Jeff is helping me paint.
Alas! Finally below is the finish product.
I didn't want to completely replicate the picture I found online, but I wanted to capture the feel and the essence. Instead of using the record frames I opted for my favorite poster of Julie Plug in the background.
Below are the Muji wooden figures that I've collected throughout my travels and I'm pretty stubborn about not getting shelves for them, so I've managed to crowd 5 cities onto one dresser.
So there's my bedroom. It's my favorite bedroom that I've ever designed. The orange does not make me tense or manic. It's a great space to come home to. I love it!
